Bully Fae Collins
Elevator Pitch (lassez-fairy forecast), 2016, HD Video and Sound. Duration : 3:54 min
In this video the camera follows the “Lassez-Fairy”, a personification of the free market as a nefarious trickster demon who frolics in empty office buildings at night, creating chaos in the global financial sector. The market has often been described as a sentient force by economists. They describe it’s “self- regulation” as an intelligence, and as proof of capitalism’s superiority. In an attempt to characterize global capitalism’s disregard for the harm it does in the interest of profit, Bully Fae personifies this intelligence as a malevolent spirit who wields finance with whimsical disregard of humanity.
Bio
Bully Fae Collins (b. 1990 Prince Frederick, MD) is an interdisciplinary performer creating theater and music about the heightened anxiety of the Information Age and the politicization of our bodies under neoliberalism. As a trickster toiling in the refuse of pop culture and history, he weaves the personal, the fictional, and the historical into troublesome queer satires. His new solo performance Songs of the Dopamine Carousel will premiere at TanzTage in January 2023.
